As you may recall, Bishop Jonathan has asked Norwich Cursillo if we could arrange on-going prayers for the Association of Christian Counsellors, who have, in response to the present Covid-19 outbreak, started a crisis counselling support group. Our Lay Director, Barbara Harrold swiftly responded to Bishop Johnathan and a post on this website on 20th April and e-mail messages to members of our 4th Day Community equally swiftly provided a gratifying number of affirmative responses. Barbara is taking a lead on this effort and is now putting together a rota for us to prepare a short daily prayer for the team and those that they will be supporting. In addition Barbara is looking into how the prayers will be communicated to the team and how personal prayer will be handled. Those who have “signed up” for this initiative will be receiving regular updates from Barbara by e-mail. Barbara particularly asks that between us we offer our prayers both silently at home but also in written words so that those we support can draw comfort from them.
Here is our first daily prayer for the group:
Heavenly Father, who calls us to serve, we pray for those who hear and respond to your word: with their minds that they may grow in understanding and compassion; with their hearts, that they may remain strong in you and support one another; with their lips enabling them to speak always with love and tenderness knowing you are supporting them; with their hands, that they may serve their fellow workers as they would serve you. with their feet, as they continue their journey through these difficult times knowing you are walking with them. May they always remain committed to you and all that you offer through the life, death and resurrection of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen
Dear Lord, we give thanks for those who respond to your calling and we commend those who are sick or bereaved to your unfailing love. Amen.
