Last Saturday saw 3 members of Secretariat, (LD, SD & BACC Rep) representing the whole of the 4th Day Community of NAC, attend a “virtual” AGM. Much different of course to the ones we have become used to. There were no contentious issues that demanded a vote by all members of the 4th Day community so the meeting was relatively short. Delegates received reports from BACC office holders and those tasked with particular responsibilities. Most importantly however was the change over of the National President and also 3 of the Standing Committee members. BACC is quite strict on the requirement for senior office holders to retire after having served 3 years in post. Many of us in Norwich Cursillo know Trevor King who has been National President for the past 3 years. Trevor visited us to attend an Ultreya ay North Wooten a couple of years ago. Trevor was due to step aside at the AGM in May this year but carried on until Saturday due to the delay occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic. We give thanks to Trevor for the tremendous efforts he has made to make Cursillo the dynamic organisation that it continues to be.
Trevor’s successor is Beth Roberts of Chester Cursillo (picture below) who will serve as National President for the next 3 years. Trevor was “decommissioned” and thanked for his work and Beth was “commissioned” to serve by the Rt. Revd Stephen Conway, Bishop of Ely, during the meeting. Prayers were of course said for Beth for strength and stamina to carry out the duties of her new office.
More about Beth can be found here: http://www.anglicancursillo.co.uk/bacc_pages/bacc_pages_spring_2019.pdf (See page 5) We wish Beth every good wish and assure her of our prayers for her safety and well being as she takes up her office.
Earlier in the meeting changes to the Standing Committee were confirmed. BACC Standing Committee consists of Area Representatives responsible for Cursillos in a particular geographical region. In our case Norwich, along with Lincoln, St Edmundsbury and Ipswich and Ely are in Area 4 (East). In this case our Area Representative, Pat Rout, stepped down from her position and Jeanie Feneron (picture below) was commissioned to serve as Area Rep for the next 3 years.
We are sure that all members of our 4th Day Community will wish both Beth and Jeanie every blessing during their tenure of office.
