Prayer for Today Friday 31st July 2020 Bless the Lord, O my soul, Worship His Holy name. Sing like never before, I’ll worship your Holy name. The sun comes up, It’s a new day dawning It’s time to sing your song again Whatever may pass, whatever lies before me Let me be singing, when the evening comes. You’re rich in love, You’re slow to anger Your name is great, Your heart is kind For all your goodness, I’ll keep on singing Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find. And on that day When my strength is failing The end draws near And my time has come Still my soul will Sing your praise unending Ten thousand years And then for evermore. For evermore Alleluia. Alleluia. Amen.
Words from the worship song written by Matt Redman and published on Kingsway Music album 10,000 Reasons in 2011. To hear this song by the author himself click on the button below. (Courtesy of You Tube)
Today the church celebrates Joseph of Aramathea. Joseph is mentioned in all 4 gospels when he asks Pilate for the body of Jesus and arranges a decent burial for him. By all accounts a rich man and a member of the Sanhedrin, Joseph was however a secret follower of Jesus. He is remembered for his steadfast love for Jesus at some risk to himself. Joseph has become the stuff of legend and is associated with possible visits to Cornwall and particularly Glastonbury in Somerset following the publication of the hymn “Jerusalem” by William Blake.
