Friday 3rd July 2020
Let us allow Our Lord and Master to
come into our hearts and minds for
a short while to say thank you for
this beautiful new day as it begins.
The sun is up, there is a small
breeze and the birds are singing
and the animals are searching
for their first meal.
We pray each morning, just a hello
and asking how to know you Lord,
better and more clearly each day.
We will learn to trust your powers
of healing and comforting those in
need. You shepherd us in our daily
actions, feeding and watering us,
keeping us safe from every type of
wrong. Thank you, Lord, for looking
after us. Amen.
Today the Church celebrates the life of St Thomas the Apostle. Also known as The Twin and mentioned in all four Gospels, but of significance in that of John. In answer to Thomas’ question Jesus answers that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life in John 4 vv 5 & 6. Thomas is also known as “Doubting Thomas” because of his unbelief at reports of the resurrection of Jesus. Thomas is believed to have taken up the Great Commission and journeyed eastwards, evangelising the peoples of what is now India. Thomas was martyred in the year 72 at Chennai, which is in modern day Tamil Nadu, and is the Patron Saint of India. In the BCP lectionary St Thomas’ day is celebrated on 21st December
