The prayers and preparations by the Cursillo 4th day Community came to fruition last weekend as four pilgrims made their Cursillo and, after having been commissioned at the Closing Service, were welcomed into the wider Cursillo Community.
Once again our pilgrims arrived at the Pleasaunce on Thursday evening eager to learn about Prayer, Study and Action in their Christian lives, but apprehensive about what would be expected of them. We can be sure that their concerns were unfounded and that they were able to relax as the programme unfolded before them. Table Leaders Jackie, Robert & Laurence helped of course by their gentle ministry as they discussed the content of the talks and how they related to their lives.
Lay Rector Jeanie Feneron ably marshalled her team to deliver the programme according to the timetable. Once again the more relaxed timetable was in use which was pioneered some time ago and is in line with present BACC teaching. When some of us “older hands” see the newer programme we are astounded how we used to fit everything in! Revd Jane and Canon Steve were on hand to make sure the Rollistas remained “on message” and of course offer spiritual advice as needed.
Jeanie was assisted by Jenny as Lay Rector’s “gofor” and other activities were fulfilled by Sue and Margaret in the Palanca room. Chapel duties were looked after by Dave and housekeeping came under the watchful eye of Genesta. We are of course grateful for the ministrations of the staff at the Pleasaunce keeping everyone “fed and watered” as well as warm so that everyone could concentrate on the task in hand.
The Weekend concluded with a well attended closing service at which our pilgrims were commissioned into the 4th day Community by Revd Jane. We were pleased to welcome Ven. Ian Bentley, Archdeacon of Lynn, into our midst for the service as well as Cursillistas from St Edmundsbury and Ipswich to support both staff and pilgrims.
We welcome Susan, Lynn, Julia and Ruth into our number and wish them every success in their continuing ministries. We look forward too to seeing them to our events in future. As someone once said “in every pilgrims Palanca bag is a National President’s rainbow waistcoat!” (or something like that anyway)
Lets not forget that we are all invited to the Welcome Back Ultreya On Saturday 2nd November at Banningham (details here: http://norwichanglicancursillo.co.uk/event/welcome-back-ultreya/
