Norwich Anglican Cursillo Cross

Members of our 4th day Community assembled at Diocesan House on Saturday 11th May.

Enjoying refreshment and fellowship at the AGM

Although few in number, those in attendance heard reports presented by our LD, Barbara Harrold, Treasurer Roger, SD Revd Jane Atkins and BACC Rep Bill Rout.

Barbara outlined the activities that had taken place during the last year in particular the weekends that had been held at The Pleasaunce last summer and again in early spring as well as the very successful hosting of the BACC Full Council and Standing Committee meetings in November. A number of Ultreyas had been held and it was felt that Cursillo in Norwich Diocese was at least active but that further improvements were in order.

Roger reported that the finances were in order and presented an overview of the financial position since NAC was founded. Roger also emphasised the opening of the new account to receive monies for the holding of the National Ultreya in 2021. This account is accumulating on account of standing order and direct debit contributions already in place. More of these will obviously be necessary as the event draws nearer and monies will be needed to secure accommodation and other expenses.

Revd Jane reported that following staffing on Norwich#12 Revd Stephen Bowring had commented favourably on the Norwich way of presenting a Cursillo Weekend. In particular Stephen was satisfied that all “the Godly Bits” had been well covered and that the weekend was run in a relaxed and spiritual manner. (Comments from the BACC AGM a week later confirm that BACC are fully supportive of our weekend programme and that other diocese are being encouraged to adopt a similar pattern.)

Mandy celebrates 20 years in Cursillo

Possible changes to Secretariat were debated and we are pleased to say that Andy will continue to be our Secretary for the time being and a date for a Secretariat meeting set for early June. Bill Rout agreed to act as 4th Day coordinator with a brief to identify suitable venues for Ultreyas and liaise with local groups to facilitate the holding of events in the diocese.

Following the meeting those present enjoyed a bring & share lunch which featured a birthday cake for Roger and a celebratory anniversary cake for Mandy who is celebrating 20 years as a Cursillista.
